opening story: When i was a real youngin' maybe 5 just full of every kind of knowledge... I needed something to go with my hot dog... we had apples oranges grapes bannanas... I knew exactly what i needed... if the fancy people could have it at their fancy little parties i would have one to... i made myself a fancy fruit delay... i thought thats what it was called in reality it was just a plater full of sliced up fruit and now that im older i know that that isnt what its proper name is and i dont even think that fancy people ate them at their fancy fancy people get togethers... but that day i walked into my living room with that fruit delay and i acted like a fancy waiter showing off my fruit dish. Even today a fruit plater in our house (regardless of its real name that i dont even know) is still called a fruit delay.
We have tons of words with stories like that... the brother that is older than me went to school calling hamburgers hankaburgers just because jeb my younger brother called them hankaburgers and my family instead of dampining his self esteem adopted his wording for a while and my family also called them hankaburgers. I bet that was embarressing... but when you get used to saying it. it just slips out.
There are many different names for the tv remote. My family has one of the weirdest names for it. We call it the channel flipper. Idk why we call it that thats what my father has always said and we cant fight it now its deeply implanted in our minds.
I would like to know what kind of strange names or phrases your family has (especially for the channel flipper) just post a comment or send me an email. I want to know if my family really is that weird does any one no what a fruit delays real name is.

well in my house the "channel flipper" is called the ranger changer. I dont know how this got started but it has stuck. Another one is mosquito is pronounced moquato. This was started because my sister couldnt pronounce it.
ReplyDeleteAt my house, the remote is called the 'clicker'. I'm the only one that does it, but I call my aunt Denise 'Aunt Nee-Nee' and my aunt Andrea 'Aunt Nana Banana'. I think it's cuz my mom used to sing a silly song about bananas that you put someones name into and she always used Andrea's name. lol
